How a journey is
actually confirmed.

Before you commit anything, you should know exactly how this works: what we promise, what you commit to, what happens if plans change, and what happens if they change on our side. Here it is, without the small print.

The path from conversation to journey

Nothing is binding until you say so, in writing, at step four. Everything before that is a conversation you can walk away from at any moment.

01You write to usNo commitment. We reply within a day, usually sooner, and ask more than we tell.
02We talk properlyBy email, WhatsApp, or a call — whichever suits you. We learn who is travelling and what draws you. Still no commitment.
03We compose a proposalA written journey, with every lodge, guide, and partner named, and a single honest cost covering everything it includes. You may ask us to change it as many times as you wish.
04You confirm, in writingOnly now does anything become binding. You confirm the proposal and pay the deposit agreed in it. This is the moment the journey becomes real.
05We hold everything for youWe book and confirm each element, and send you the details as they are secured.
06The balance, before you travelPaid by the date stated in your proposal.
07We remain reachable throughoutNot only before your journey, but during it.

ii

What the price includes

Every proposal states, in full, what is included and what is not. The number we give you is the number you pay. There are no service charges added later and no costs revealed on arrival.

Where something genuinely cannot be included — international flights, visas, personal insurance, and anything you choose to spend on the ground — we say so clearly in the proposal rather than leaving you to discover it.

iii

Paying for a journey

A deposit confirms your journey; the balance is paid before you travel. The exact amounts and dates are set out in your written proposal — they vary with the journey, the season, and what our partners require, so we state them for your journey specifically rather than pretending one rule fits everything.

Payment is normally made by bank transfer. We will confirm the account details directly with you, and we will never send you new or changed bank details out of the blue. If you ever receive a message claiming our details have changed, stop and call us before sending anything.

iv

If your plans change

Life interrupts travel. If you need to change dates or cancel, tell us as early as you can and we will do whatever we can to help.

Being honest about the limits: once a journey is confirmed, we commit money to lodges, guides, permits, and crews on your behalf, and their own terms bind us. What can be refunded depends on what those partners will release, and how close to departure you are. Your proposal sets out the cancellation terms that apply to your specific journey before you commit — you will never be asked to confirm without seeing them.

Where we recover money from a partner, we pass it back to you. We do not keep what we have not lost.

v

If we have to change something

Occasionally a lodge closes, a road washes out, a park changes its rules, or weather makes a plan unwise. If that happens, we will tell you immediately and arrange the closest equivalent we can find, at our cost where the change is ours to fix.

If we ever have to make a change so significant that it alters the character of your journey, you may accept it, take an alternative, or cancel and be refunded what we can recover.

vi

Insurance, which is not optional

We ask every traveller to hold comprehensive travel insurance including medical cover and emergency evacuation, valid for everything you intend to do — including trekking to altitude, if you are climbing. In remote country this is the difference between an inconvenience and a crisis. More on this on our practical page.

vii

Passports, visas and health

You are responsible for holding a valid passport, the correct visa, and any vaccinations required for your route. We will tell you honestly what applies to your nationality and your actual flight routing, and check it with you before anything is booked — but the documents themselves are yours to hold.

viii

Safety, and the honest limits of it

We choose partners, guides, and vehicles with care, and we will tell you plainly when we think something is unwise — including when we think you should not attempt a climb.

Wild places carry risk that no operator can remove. Animals are wild, altitude is real, and weather does what it wants. We manage what can be managed, we are honest about what cannot, and we ask you to follow your guides’ instructions, because they are the people who know.

ix

If something goes wrong

Tell us immediately, while you are still travelling, so we can fix it rather than apologise for it later. We remain reachable throughout your journey.

If something cannot be resolved on the ground, write to hola@enkiama.com and Baraka will handle it personally. We would rather hear a complaint directly than read it later somewhere else.

Nothing here is designed to protect us from you. It is here so that you know, before you commit anything, exactly what you are committing to — and so that neither of us has to rely on memory when something changes.

Your proposal is the agreement

This page describes how we work in general. The written proposal we compose for you is the agreement that actually applies — it states your dates, your inclusions, your payment schedule, and your cancellation terms specifically. Where the two differ, your proposal governs. Read it before you confirm, and ask us about anything in it that is not completely clear.
